Synopsis
King Lear, one of William Shakespeare’s greatest works, tells the story of an aging monarch who decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters, hoping to retire from ruling while still retaining authority and the respect of all. By demanding public declarations of devotion, he sets off a political game that quickly turns against him. Stripped of power and betrayed by the very alliances he believed were secure, Lear wanders through a world that no longer belongs to him. Amid storm and ruin, he discovers—too late—the fragility of power and of the human condition itself.
